Saturday Sisters March 2009

Paula had us at her house this month and we made quick and fun little projects. Another great day! I made drink coaster out of oil cloth and Jody made check book covers out of the coolest money themed fabric. Karen made pillow cases, Carol did some hand work, and Paula worked with her daughter Sarah on a new horse quilt.

Saturday Sisters January 2009

Happy new year. We met a Norahann's house to work on UFO's that we had created last year. I focused on my friendship blocks that my sisters made for me last April. As always lots of laughter, food, and fabric!

Sisters!

We had so much fun Thursday night! Several coincidences took place: most of us had never been to the Melting Pot, and 2/3 of of us have birthdays in December. Spooky huh? Okay, that's a stretch. No matter we still had a blast. It took us two and half hours to complete our meal.

At first I had a hard time getting a hand of stabbing my food with sharp forks, I really though chop-sticks might have worked better. After a while and after a tragic finger stabbing incident I succeeded in fonduing several food items! Yummy!

We had a great time!

I got more sewing done last Saturday than I have in months! I played with my block, helped my friends, played hostess, and ate good food. Very satisfying overall!

Preparing

This weekend I am preparing for next week's sewing group. I am setting up tables all down stairs and figuring out which dish I will make for our potluck. I have a lot to do before next week!

Some Center Ideas

Some ideas for the center, it would be 6" finished, 6-1/2" unfinished. These are for a block that my group will be making for me out of greens, each lady can sign her name on her block so that I will remember each one that is our group. I will incorporate all the blocks into the rest of my quilt.

Improvisational Blocks

I've been working on these blocks trying to come up with one that I like, but I like them all! I really like the dynamics of putting them all together with some other square elements. As for which block I will have my group make I think I am leaning towards a Friendship block, where each member only has to make one, and it is for this quilt. I have to figure out how to create the guide lines to be followed so that each person can make as much as what style they like.

Last week instead of sewing I hosted a dinner party for the design department that I work with. I think it was a success, everyone had a great time.
